Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Merced, California, Thai Cuisine II offers an authentic journey into the vibrant flavors of Thailand, right at 779 E Yosemite Ave G. This Thai restaurant is a gem for both locals and visitors craving well-crafted, flavorful dishes that evoke the rich tradition of Thai cooking.

Step inside to find a cozy and inviting dining atmosphere where attentive staff ensure your experience is seamless. While the space is modest—with smaller tables and intimate booths—the warm service and generous portions more than make up for any spatial limitations. You’ll feel instantly welcomed, whether you're sitting down for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner.

The menu boasts an enticing selection of lunch specials that capture the essence of Thai cuisine. Dive into the Pad Curry Prawns, featuring succulent prawns sautéed with a luscious yellow curry, baby corn, onions, and egg—a harmonious blend of spice and creaminess that will awaken your palate. For meat lovers, the Nuer Pad Prig offers tender slices of beef stir-fried with fiery chili peppers and savory oyster sauce, perfectly balancing heat with umami richness.

Don’t miss the Kao Na Ped, where boneless roasted duck is served atop stir-fried cabbage over fragrant rice—comforting, hearty, and deeply aromatic. The Chicken with Baby Corn and Mushrooms (Gai Kao Poad) and the peanut sauce-glazed Gai Praram over spinach are equally delightful options that showcase the depth and variety of Thai home cooking.

If you’re seeking a meal that feels like a celebration, the Pineapple Fried Rice is a standout choice. Packed with prawns, chicken, sweet pineapple, Chinese sausage, tomatoes, and onions, this dish sings with a beautiful balance of sweet, savory, and tangy notes. It’s vibrantly colorful and richly textured—an absolute feast for the senses.

And for those with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection shines with the timeless Sweet Rice Mango. This traditional sticky rice, perfectly cooked in creamy coconut milk and served with fresh mango slices, offers a luscious, tender finish to your meal that is both comforting and exotically fresh.

Customers consistently praise Thai Cuisine II for its generous portion sizes, making each visit feel like a two-meal deal. One satisfied diner highlights that the sticky rice is “just amazing,” while another raves about the “juicy and plump” coconut shrimp, emphasizing the kitchen’s commitment to quality ingredients. The fast service and friendly, knowledgeable staff enhance the overall experience, making the restaurant a reliable go-to spot for delicious Thai food in Merced.

Whether you’re craving a comforting bowl of beef noodle soup with a clean, perfectly balanced broth, or a flavorful, spice-kissed curry, Thai Cuisine II delivers each dish with authenticity and care. This is a great Thai restaurant! Food was great. Plenty of menu options. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. There isn't a large amount of seating and the tables are a bit small; especially when you take into account that the condiment tray takes up ~1/4 of the table. If you have a larger build, I wouldn't suggest the booths, because they are pretty small. That being said, there are plenty of condiments on the table! (Fish sauce, jalapeños, soy sauce, spice powder, pepper paste, sriracha, and salt, if I recall correctly.) The decor is pretty nice and place is clean. The noise level was pretty high and they had their system running a local pop station...so a bit distracting as far as ambiance.

The service was decent like other restaurants they don't check in on you after giving the food. The food didn't take long to come out. The coconut shrimp were so juicy and plump. They give you big shrimps not no baby ones. The beef noodle soup was perfect. Broth was clean and not too salty. It was clean inside the restaurant.

Highly recommend. We were there for lunch today. I think it would be a great spot of dinner with a date or whatever. I had curry prawn lunch special and it was excellent.

Even with a party of 4 coming in around the later hours of dinner, the staff were astoundingly quick to accommodate us with seating and food. As in only 10-12 minutes from placing orders to the food arriving, all during an already busy time. The food itself was great as well, though some of us did take it to-go due to the large portion size. I actually still regret forgetting to take the rest of the pad se-ew; it was one of the best meals I've had in Merced. :(

I've been coming here for a while, but I've only ever dined in twice. This time dining in was a good experience, the only thing I'd like to see improve is the drinks being kept full, had to keep asking for refills. I absolutely love the spring rolls, pho, and pineapple fried rice from here. The Pad Thai isn't as great as Sam's but it's ok. If you work on the north side of town and want some good Thai then this is where you can go for it
